LuckyFABB 2013 NYC

DSC_0005

On Thursday and Friday, I attended LuckyFABB for the first time ever, and boy was it an experience! Day 1 kicked off with the adorable, sweet, and brilliant EIC of Lucky Magazine - Eva Chen! It was a pleasure hearing her speak.

DSC_0010 The first panel consisted of Erica Domesek of PS I Made This , Gabi Gregg of GabiFresh , and Alisa of Pose. They had some great advice on engaging readers, and converting them to advocates. You probably can't tell from this picture, but Erica was wearing the most fabulous, blinged out cat ears!

IMG_20131024_104420 I also go to chat with the incredibly sweet Gabi. I loved how humble and down-to-earth she is! And let's not forget - beautiful!

IMG_20131024_104011 And the highlight of the whole conference for me - personally meeting Eva Chen! You guys, she is every bit as sweet as we all imagine she is! Actually, she's sweeter. And cute. It was really refreshing to see a fashion girl, as influential as her, actually be genuinely nice. You guys know that's a VERY rare occurrence!

Eva Chen Bryan Boy Eva Chen and BryanBoy! This was definitely a fun chat!

On Day 2, there were smaller breakout sessions. The first session I attended was Founder's Series with Jess Lee of Polyvore, and Tamara Mellon, the co-founder of Jimmy Choo. Both Jess and Tamara were incredibly encouraging and uplifting! My second session was an SEO checklist session with Raman Kia of Conde Nast. My third session was a chat with Leandra Medine of Man Repeller, and my last session was Street Style Photography, with Adam Katz Sinding. I didn't take as many pictures on day two, coz I was busy taking notes.

I had a great time at LuckyFABB, and met some really lovely people. However, if I were to be completely honest, I was a bit disappointed. A conference like LuckyFABB should be an amazing networking opportunity, but I just felt like a lot of bloggers had their little cliques and just took themselves way too seriously. It felt like high school, which is a shame! I did not network with as many people as I had expected, but I did meet some extremely lovely bloggers!

Holy smokes….look at all that swag!! I am sorry that their were cliques going on…honestly, I am not surprised….this is one of the reasons I don’t go to big blogger conferences. It is such a shame! But on the bright side, looks like you met some amazing people and I am sure learned a tons too….and again….look at all that SWAG!! Gonna email you back in a few. :)

Yea, it was definitely weird. I thought I would be in an overall uplifting, happy, everybody is so friendly environment. Oh well, I probably won’t go to another one of these. But yes, I definitely learned a lot and met some incredible people. The swag wasn’t too bad either! ;)

Sorry about the other bloggers, honestly that’s why I’m iffy about conferences like this. I’m already sort of shy with new people, that would just make me feel even more awkward. At least your got to learn a few things and got an awesome swag bag! : )

P.S. I just found your blog on instagram. I’m from NJ too! I really like your style, I’m following your blog now! : )

    • Dhruvi

Hi Melody – thank you for following! You have such a cute blog – I like your style!

As for the conference – This was my first time. Yes, I was bummed about all the HS-like blogger cliques. But I did also meet some awesome girls! So, I’m def glad I went! :)
