Promiseland NYC Premiere
On Saturday, I went to the NYC premiere of Promise Land - a movie about broken promises and the pursuit of happiness. The premiere was at the AMC movie theater right in Times Square, which was super cool! The movie revolves around some of the most pressing issues that we are facing today - immigration, homosexuality, and racial stereotyping. I got a chance to speak with the director/write, Kevin Dalvi, at the after-party and he told me they shot the movie in 20 days - something I would've never guessed! The movie is extremely well-made. Immigration is a topic that has been in the spotlight lately, and this movie sheds brilliant light on the misconceptions and lack of knowledge that surround this issue. Even while tackling some really serious issues, the film manages to be entertaining - it delivered laughs and tears (I had to constantly remind myself that my eyeliner wasn't waterproof!) I highly recommend checking out Promiseland!
Unfortunately, I was stuck in traffic and so, I missed the red carpet. But, here's what I wore to the event
See my stuff in the bottom right corner? I can't believe I put my bag on the floor, at a NYC subway station! The back of the dress was black mesh and I also wore my leather bomber with it when I was outside (sorry, don't have pictures with the bomber on!)
Birthday Party: Black & White Leather
So, my birthday is coming up tomorrow but I actually celebrated last Saturday. I was so hot and cold about my party this year that I didn't actually decide on an outfit until the day before. Once I had this outfit figured out, though, I was super excited. I love that it combines two of my absolute favorite Spring 2013 trends - Black & White, and (faux) Leather!

I'm so proud of my mom - she's gotten so good at taking pictures. She randomly captured this and I love how you can see the bag's super cute lining! Btw, it was a little windy when I took these pictures so, please pardon the messy hair.

Outfit: Black & White + Sequins
Hey lovies! So, I had gotten this skirt a while ago and I love it but I couldn't figure out how to style it. Then, a couple weeks ago, while cleaning my closet - I found this shirt and I absolutely had to try this combo. I wanted to style it with patent leather brogues, for a menswear inspired look. Since black & white is such a huge trend for spring, I figured I'd make this a monochromatic look (except the coat, of course!)
Aaaaaand there's the hair tie again! I have GOT to remember to take that off when I take pictures! Lol. Btw - see my review of the Prabal Gurung for Target collection
