So, my birthday is coming up tomorrow but I actually celebrated last Saturday. I was so hot and cold about my party this year that I didn’t actually decide on an outfit until the day before. Once I had this outfit figured out, though, I was super excited. I love that it combines two of my absolute favorite Spring 2013 trends – Black & White, and (faux) Leather!

I actually went to a day party this year and was able to take some pictures before we headed out.  View Post

Hello Loves! Hope you’re having a wonderful winter and staying warm! It’s been forever since my last post- between my crazy work schedule and wrapping up my first semester as an MBA student it’s been hectic! With the holidays around the corner, online shopping has become my new best friend (sorry Dhruvi :P)! I love this time of year – spending QT with my fam and friends snuggled up at home, baking yummy goodies and of course GIFTS! There’s nothing better than watching your loved ones’ eyes light up as they open up a surprise. Sephora is my go-to store during holiday season, every year they put out tons of special edition sets that not only feature some of the hottest products but offer an amazing value! I love that I can pamper my family and friends with indulgent gifts, without breaking my budget.

(1) SEPHORA by OPI Tinsel Town Collector’s Set: This set is an awesome deal. With 16 mini-nail polishes of this year’s trendiest colors it’s perfect for anyone with nail color ADD. It even contains a jewel top coat! The nail paints are perfectly portioned and the set contains an array of colors perfect for the winter and versatile enough to use all year long. I especially love the assortment of jewel tones and neutrals, appropriate for work or a night out!

(2) Sephora Favorites Fragrance Sampler for Her: One of my all time favorite Sephora gifts! Fragrance gifts are usually tough because there are so many different scents to chose from! This awesome set contains 12 samples of the season’s most popular scents and a voucher for your gift recipient to get a full size version of the perfume they select! This year Sephora has also released a smaller roller-ball version of this set and it’s also available for men’s cologne. You can’t go wrong with this!

(3) Philosophy Home For the Holidays Set: When I think about the holidays the first thing that comes to mind is spending cozy nights at home with the smell of delicious holiday goodies all around. This Philosophy set captures that holiday spirit into a luxurious spa experience with  four multipurpose hair and body cleansers/bubble baths in yummy holiday inspired scents like cinnamon buns, peppermint bark, and sparkling cranberry. Once you start using these, you won’t wanna leave the shower! The set also contains four lip glosses in the same scrumptious flavors- making your lips extra silky and tasty ;)!

(4) Smashbox Studio Pop Eye Palette: You can never have enough makeup palettes! I recently bought this palette and found that it was one of my favorite ones yet! I love Smashbox eyeshadows and this palette in particular has vibrant jewel, metallic and neutral colors in shades that are flattering on all skin tones. The kit also contains easy-to-use eye liners and four how-to cards that teach you step-by-step how to create eye looks great for day and night! The palette also contains a mirror and is portable enough to toss into your clutch. A must have – perfect for the fashionista in your life!

(5) Shiseido White Lucent Spot Corrector Expert 10 Days To Brighter Skin Kit: Who wouldn’t love the gift of beautiful skin? The White Lucent system by Shiseido is one of the only skincare systems that I have used that produced IMMEDIATELY after the first use. This system targets imperfections in the skin leaving it flawless! It is also gentle enough for sensitive skin, yet the serum, cleanser, softener, and moisturizer are potent enough to produce visibly more luminous skin in only 10 days! Whoever you decide to give this gift to will definitely love you for it!

Happy Holidays (and shopping) everyone!! XO

During the most recent StyleCaster #StyleChat on Twitter, someone asked “Little Black Dress or colorful attire for your Holiday Party?”. I, of course, said color! As cliché as this sounds, it is the most wonderful time of the year. So, why not wear color and sparkles, and celebrate? And with that, I’ve picked 3 beautifully chic looks, that don’t require an LBD!

Dress/Ring/Shoes/Clutch
I am in love with this look. The color is so rich and looks even better because it’s velvet! You’ll stand out in a pool of black dresses, in just the right way! Wear your hair in loose curls or an up do, with a purple/silver smoky eye and a nude lip and you’re all set!

Dress/Booties/Ring/Bag/Earrings/Necklace
Dazzle everyone in this gorgeous sequin dress – perfect for a holiday party or for NYE! The booties add an edge to the look. Wear with a nude lip or a bold, red lip! You could wear your hair up or down.

Dress/Sandals/Clutch/Earrings/Ring
The minute I saw this dress, I fell in love. It’s glamorously chic, and yet understated. Keep your makeup natural, dramatic black eyeliner, maybe even with a hint of green and gold on the bottom!

Hope this post has motivated you guys to wear something other than the good ol’ LBD to your holiday parties this year!

With Fall setting in and the days getting shorter and shorter, my motivation to get up in the morning has become non-existent! I catch myself hitting snooze over and over, not wanting to get out of bed.
In an attempt to save precious time in the morning, I have tried my best to simplify my make-up routine to just the basics – a technique that takes just 5 minutes!

(1) BB Cream: This product that was initially very popular in Asia has now hit the US mainstream. BB cream is my favorite time-saver as it incorporates a moisturizer (with SPF), primer, tinted moisturizer/foundation, concealer and mattifier into one small tube leaving you with flawless skin in one single step. RecommendSmashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, $39

(2) Setting Powder: I like using a setting powder after foundation to prevent excess oil and add a slight glow. Recommend: Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder, $32

(3) Bronzer/Highlighter: A bronzer or highlighter can be used to add a little color, especially when skin tends to get paler in colder months. They can also be used to contour the face. Recommend: TANtalizer ® Highligter & Matte Bronzer Duo, $32

(4) Eyeliner: A thin swipe of eyeliner on upper and lower lids gives eyes an instant pop. Pencil liners tend to be easier to use than messy liquid liners in the morning. Recommend: Estée Lauder Automatic Eye Pencil Duo, $25

(5) Eyelash curler: Every girl should invest in a good eyelash curler! A 3-second pinch makes a huge difference in creating a wide-eyed look with beautifully curled lashes. Recommend: Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler, $20

(6) Eyelid primer: I didn’t realize the value of a good eyelid primer until a few years ago. I used to wonder why my eye-shadow would always slide off my skin. Then I started using eyelid primer (which is different than regular skin primer) and saw a difference immediately. Eyelid primer should be used anytime you apply eye-shadow to ensure all day coverage. Recommend: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, $18

(7) Eyeshadow: For daytime use, I prefer a soft shadow of neutral shades just to add some color and dimension to the face. There are many palettes that are available with softer shades that can be used during the day and transition right into night. Recommend: Too Faced Naked Eye Soft & Sexy Eye Shadow Collection, $36.

(8) Lip Gloss/Stain: I prefer lip glosses and stains to lipsticks because they look more natural and also last longer. Early in the morning, I hate the feeling of having makeup caked on my face. Lip stains and glosses provide a less heavy alternative to lipsticks and give sheer, natural color. Recommend: Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Baby Doll, $24; Tarte LipSurgenceTM Matte Lip Tint in Hope-warm rose, $24

I timed myself to see exactly how long steps 1 through 8 would take, and even with the time needed to rummage through my make-up bag it took me 5 minutes and 11 seconds! By minimizing your morning prep time you’ll have a few extra minutes to get some zzzs or cuddle time ;) ! Good luck guys, and Happy Fall!!
